Greek folklore describes the Chimera as a fire-breathing beast who was the offspring of Typhon and Echinda, and the sibling of Cerberus (the three-headed dog) and the Hyrda. A lion with the head of a goat and the tail of a snake, she killed cattle and brough terror to the country. The Chimera was slain by Bellerophon as he rode the winged horse Pegasus.Â
