Handmade in Scotland by our Pewtersmith
Birlinns (from the old Norse word for longship) were an adaptation of the boat used by Vikings- Common in the West Islands of Scotland (Herbrides), the boats were rowed or sailed betweed islands- This pewter Birlinn is set upon a pewter Highland Battle sword, which was shorter than the more famous longswords and Claymores of the mainland and was perfect for use at sea- The art in this kilt pin is inspired by the many carved examples found on the graveslabs that survive in the west islands of Scotland
