Plague Doctor Holiday Ornament – Arrives in red velvet and metallic gold trim cinch bag for gift giving
Ornament Measures: 2 3/8 inches across by 3 1/4 inches tall
Glossy Ceramic
The first plague doctor costume as we know it today, was probably worn in 17th century Italy. As the plague was thought to be caught through bad air, the beak mask structure allowed herbs to be held in place close to the nose to counteract and block the bad air, leaving the hands free.
